Since 2015, the ports of Calais and Boulogne-sur-Mer have been managed by SEPD (Société d’Exploitation des Ports du Détroit) in order to merge into a single entity. This organization, supported by the Hauts-de-France region, facilitates closer and faster links between the two main ports of the region.
Port of Calais
Located just 38 km from the British coast, the Port of Calais is one of the shortest routes between Continental Europe and Great Britain, making it a significant link between France and the UK. It is the leading French port for cross-channel traffic and the leading continental European port for passengers.

In 2015, the Port of Calais underwent an expansion that doubled its current capacity through the construction of a new sea-facing basin. Calais Port 2015 directly contributes to strengthening this route and will enable the Port of Calais to consolidate its strategic role within the TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network).
